Every sport benefits from having role models who inspire and set examples for the younger generation, encouraging them to follow in their footsteps. In recent years, physically demanding sports like trail running for women have seen a huge surge in popularity, leading to the emergence of many elite female athletes in the arena. We’re confident that the current generation of outstanding female trail runners will go on to inspire many young girls to develop a passion for this sport.
In this article, we’ll introduce you to our top female trail runners and ambassadors at Nnormal. Each embodies the core values of Nnormal, sharing a deep passion for the great outdoors and a commitment to preserving our natural world. We hope their stories and achievements will inspire girls around the world to pursue trail running.
Here, we spotlight two remarkable women who epitomize Nnormal’s dedication to peak performance, personal growth, and a love for trail running. These athletes not only demonstrate exceptional prowess in the sport, conquering the toughest of trails but also embody the ethos of Nnormal, championing sustainability and an appreciation for nature, which are at the heart of our values.
If you’re passionate about the outdoors, you’re probably already familiar with Emelie Fosberg, one of the top athletes in trail running and ski mountaineering worldwide. In this article, Emelie shares her thoughts about the importance of sustainability, sports, and family, including the impact of tourism on the environment, and teaching the new generation about sustainable practices from a young age.
Born and raised on the northwest coast of Sweden, the mountains and wild forests sparked her passion for nature from an early age. Her love of nature led her to practice many different sports like cross-country skiing, whitewater kayaking, and climbing during her teenage years. Later, she studied biology at a university in Norway, where she began her competitive career in 2012. Now a two-time world champion in skyrunning and ultramarathon, she is part of the Swedish national ski mountaineering team and is known for setting speed records on mountains around the world. Beyond her impressive achievements, Emelie’s infectious energy and kindness have left a distinctive mark on the world of skimo and skyrunning.
In addition to her sporting endeavors, Emelie is an advocate of healthy living and yoga. She launched “Moonvalley”, a line of organic sports nutrition products with her fellow mountaineers, Ida Nilsson, and Mimmi Kotka. Her first literary work, “Sky Runner”, was published in 2018 and translated into five languages, and is another way she has contributed to the mountain sports world.
For all these reasons and more, we are extremely proud to have her as part of our team, the NNormal ambassador community.
Allie Ostrander radiates positive energy on every trail she takes on, representing the joy of running, and passion in everything she does. She joins the Nnormal family now, solidifying her connection to the mountains, and her dedication as a mental health advocate. Through her YouTube channel, she addresses a range of topics from workouts to strength the body, to exercises for our mental health.
Originally from Kenai, Alaska (United States), Allie discovered a love for running in her childhood, challenging herself and competing against boys to prove her skills. Today, she is not only one of the best mountain runners in the world but also takes on the role of a mental health advocate, something she has been passionate about for years, using social media to spread crucial information about mental health. Allie Ostrander embraces new challenges with courage, recognizing that facing her fears is essential: “We must confront our inner demons, as they are an inevitable part of life, never a weakness.”
Allie's unwavering determination and insatiable curiosity set her apart, making her an exceptional addition to NNormal. For her, being part of this family is a source of happiness, and she feels fortunate to share values aligned with the brand.
From the infectious energy of our NNormal ambassadors to the inspiring feats of women like Emelie and Allie, it's clear that the world of trail running is undergoing an impressive female revolution. The progressive inclusion of women in this sport has not only expanded the boundaries of what is possible but also demonstrated that resilience, strength, and determination have no gender.
At NNormal, we are honored to witness and be part of this evolution, and we look forward to continuing to be part of the inspiring stories that continue to shape the exciting world of trail running.
