Athlete / Discipline, Community, and New Goals
An athlete who is an inspiration, not just for her victories, but also her resilience and social commitment to her community.
Hailing from Kenya, she began logging miles at just 12 years old. She quickly stood out and started carving out her path< in the world of trail running. Nine years later, she achieved one of her dreams: becoming a professional athlete. With immense resilience, she overcame the challenges of a tough childhood and adapted to a world vastly different from the one she grew up in.
All of this led her to achieve her first local successes, followed by international triumphs. In 2022 and 2023, she won the World Mountain Running Athletics (WMRA) World Cup, and more recently, in 2024, she claimed first place in the Golden Trail Series. A top-tier track record.
But Joyce’s impact goes far beyond being just an athlete. Her commitment to her community is also a defining part of her character. She is deeply involved in various social and educational projects, particularly initiatives supporting underprivileged children.
“I like motivating young people on how to be strong and not give up”
Joyce Muthoni Njeru
Thanks to her perseverance, she has broken barriers, especially in short-distance races. As she puts it, “Trail running has changed my life.” Joyce has always been extremely dedicated to her training plan, which has been key to her success.
Now, as part of the NNormal team, sustainability and caring for the planet have also taken centre stage, and she has launched new collaborative projects.
Her story is a powerful reminder of how sport can transform lives, unite cultures, promote diversity, and inspire future generations.
