We launched this study to push Tomir 02 to its limits and gain real-world insights into its durability. By testing it with a global community of over 7,000 runners, we wanted to validate its performance and lifespan. Fewer discarded shoes means more time on the trail.

Tested by a global community of over 7,000 runners with methodology validated by IESE University, the Tomir 02 was pushed to its limits to determine its true lifespan.
Results? An impressive average of 823 km on moderate trail terrain before needing a resole.
Key findings:

A runner’s story: 1,300km in Tomir 02
Meet Sandra. A geologist and dedicated runner from Spain, Sandra has pushed her Tomir 02 to an impressive 1,300 km. From midday workouts to long mountain sessions and fieldwork mapping geological hazards, the Tomir 02 has been her go-to for every run, ride and race.
Last June, she raced 100 miles in Andorra, navigating rocky and snow-covered terrain at high altitudes. After alternating between two pairs all year, Sandra is now resoling them through NNormal’s Resoling Program – giving them a second life for fieldwork and short to medium hikes.
Next up, her biggest challenge yet. Mont Blanc – where she’ll take on 175 km in fresh Tomir 02.

Yes. For us, this study is an exercise in transparency and a benchmark to understand where we stand and how we can continue improving the Tomir franchise. It is not just about a number but a commitment to continuously test and improve the durability of our shoes.
Do we have data from competitors or the market in general?
We believe that fostering transparency in the industry is essential and encourage other brands to conduct similar studies and share their results.
What does IESE validate, and how was the study conducted?
IESE validated the study’s methodology, which is based on data from more than 7,000 runners worldwide. The average durability estimate is calculated for a runner weighing between 65 kg and 80 kg on moderate trail terrain. The results showed a moderate correlation (Pearson coefficient of 0.42), and factors such as runner weight and terrain type can influence final durability.
What if the shoes last fewer kilometers than the indicated average?
The 823 km is an average based on thousands of runners, but natural variations occur depending on factors such as weight, running technique, terrain, and usage conditions. Additionally, manufacturing defects, though rare, may occur. For any issues, our customer service team is available to assess each case individually.

Durability is not just about resistance but also maintenance and repair.
